Yanis Bryois is a DPhil researcher in Generative Biology at the University of Oxford, working with Linda Van Bijsterveldt on engineering de novo chromosomes for multi-generational stability. 

He did his BSc in Biology at the University of Geneva, with an exchange year at the University of Manchester where he focused on the molecular basis of diseases. He also spent time at the Centriole Architecture lab, improving expansion microscopy, and at the Roux Lab, working on segmentation of images from epithelial tissues. From there he moved to Basel for his MSc in Biotechnology at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (ETH Zurich). He interned at Roche pRED, where he developed an siRNA sequencing technology for multiplexed in vivo assays. His thesis, in Prof. Sai Reddy's Laboratory for Systems and Synthetic Immunology, focused on allogeneic cell therapies against cancer. He worked with primary cells, designed de novo binders, and developed in silico tools for de-immunization of proteins. 

Yanis is passionate about developing tools and technologies to improve human health, and is always happy to chat about it. When he's not in the lab, you'll find him riding his bike or working on his friends'.
